A Flexible Funeral Service College Designed for You
Earn your Funeral Service degree on your timetable
At Goodwin University, we understand that every student’s path is different — that’s why our Funeral Service program is designed with flexibility in mind. Whether you prefer the structure of campus-based learning or the convenience of online coursework, you can earn your associate degree on your timetable.
Choose from two career-focused pathways, both offering a comprehensive 65-credit curriculum that can be completed in as few as 16 months full time,* with part-time options available.
On-campus program
Attend classes just one day per week in a supportive, hands-on environment. You’ll benefit from:
- Courses taught by practicing funeral directors
- On-campus lab training in embalming and restorative art
- Required skill verifications built into your coursework
- Internship placements at funeral homes across the state
This path is ideal for students who thrive with face-to-face learning and want consistent in-person support.
Online program
Prefer a more flexible option? Our fully online program allows you to study on your schedule, with expert instruction and one required 2-3 day on-campus immersion weekend in your final semester. During the immersion weekend** you’ll complete:
- Embalming and restorative art skill verifications
- A comprehensive curriculum review to prepare for board exams
- A shadowing experience at the State of Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office
No matter which path you choose, you’ll gain the technical knowledge, real-world experience, and professional confidence needed to succeed in the funeral service profession.
* Additional time is required to complete prerequisite courses.
** Travel, lodging, meals, and other related immersion weekend costs are the responsibility of the student.
