Post-master’s Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate Curriculum

The PMHNP certificate is for nurses who already hold a master’s degree and are returning to specialize in advanced psychiatric and mental healthcare. This certificate supports nurses seeking to expand their scope of practice and pursue an APRN pathway focused on mental health across diverse patient populations.

The courses in this program will strengthen your skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management. The curriculum emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based mental healthcare and prepares you for expanded clinical responsibility.

This program consists of 32 credits and is structured to support working professionals. Coursework is delivered fully online, with the exception of one in-person immersion experience that reinforces hands-on learning and the practical application of advanced practice concepts.

The program concludes with a capstone experience designed to support readiness for the national PMHNP board certification exam.
