Class of 2007, Associate in Nursing Program
Why did you decide to attend Goodwin College?
When I graduated high school in 2002, I decided to follow a family tradition and enroll at a university that most of my relatives attended. I thought I was doing what was best for me. For two years, I tried my hardest to do well. I finally realized that it was not for me and that I needed something much different in order to succeed. I left the university not knowing what to do next.
While driving home one evening, I heard a commercial on the radio about Goodwin’s nursing program. As soon as I got home, I talked it over with my parents and they agreed that it would be a good idea to explore the College further. What attracted me to Goodwin the most was the intimate classroom setting, which would help me get to know my professors well. I also loved the flexible hours. I was able to work full-time and attend school full-time. It was obvious. I had to attend Goodwin!
How has your education at Goodwin College helped you?
Not only did I learn a lot about the science of nursing, but I have become more compassionate and caring. To me, patient care comes first. I will always treat my patients as if they are my own family members. Without the excellent education I received at Goodwin, I would not be where I am today.
Describe your overall experience at Goodwin College.
Attending Goodwin College was one of the best times of my life. Yes, it was challenging, but I was always able to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I do not recall being surrounded with anything but positive energy. Everyone was very supportive. I was also able to meet all different types of people. The population was very diverse. Some students were in their early twenties and going to college for the first time, while others were parents that were juggling home and school life. We all respected each other and wanted to excel together.
What did you like most about Goodwin College?
I loved the flexible hours, the knowledgeable instructors, small classroom sizes and the respectful peers. Goodwin is an excellent place to receive a degree, and I would not have done anything differently.
