On Monday, September 8, Goodwin University will host its 20th Annual Golf Tournament at the Hartford Golf Club in West Hartford, Connecticut.
A shotgun start is scheduled for 11 a.m., and the day includes golf, breakfast, lunch, dinner, complimentary beverages, raffles, and on-course contests. The event supports the Goodwin Foundation Scholarship Fund, which assists students with demonstrated financial need as they work toward certificates and degrees in career-focused fields.
This year’s tournament will be led by honorary event chair Scot Haney of WFSB Channel 3. Known for his upbeat personality and spot-on forecasts for the morning commute, Haney appears weekdays on Eyewitness News This Morning and co-hosts Better Connecticut. A familiar face across the state, he has earned numerous accolades, including the American Red Cross Service Award and 12 consecutive “Best News Personality in Connecticut” honors from The Hartford Advocate.
This signature event is a key component of the Foundation’s work to support Goodwin students. “Ninety percent of our students receive some form of grant or financial assistance as they work toward their career goals,” said Lee Housley, Goodwin graduate, trustee, Foundation board member, and leadership and development manager at Hanwha Aerospace. “Through the golf tournament, volunteers from the University — and throughout the community — work to ensure that these students are well prepared to enter the workforce. Most Goodwin students remain in Connecticut, so our efforts not only help them individually but also go toward strengthening the state’s economy.”
