3. Gain experience in the field.

How long is radiography school?

Radiography schools vary in terms of curriculum and timeline. However, in general, most associate degree programs take between two and three years to complete. These programs combine a blend of science classes, career-oriented courses, and clinical training experiences to give students a well-rounded education every step of the way. Prerequisite courses are often required, too, which can affect one’s overall time to completion.

In order to qualify for the ARRT exam, you just need an associate’s degree (or higher), ideally from an ARRT-approved program.

The examination itself is comprised of roughly 200 questions, covering topics in patient care, safety, image production, and procedures. On average, candidates take about four hours to complete their exam in total.

After completion, you’ll receive your final results within 10 business days, according to the ARRT, and if you pass, you’ll receive your official certificate about two weeks from that date.
