Help Improve Lives with Our Social Work Degree

As a professional career choice, Social Work inspires those with the desire to help others and to promote social and economic justice. A bachelor’s degree in Social Work leads to career opportunities that serve individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Through the bachelor’s degree program at Goodwin College, students prepare to become effective Social Workers by using strength-based practice skills that build upon the resiliency and self-sufficiency of all client systems.

Social Work uses social theories to understand the challenging and complex human dynamics that affect all systems on micro and macro levels. The program’s curriculum is designed to provide students with the theories and skills required to become a Generalist Social Work Practitioner.

Mental health support increases yearly on the national level, creating a need for more Social Workers in communities, organizations, schools, and home-based support. As the demand for mental health and wraparound support has grown, many social service agencies and organizations have implemented specific hiring requirements to fill these critical positions.

A career in Social Work is mission driven, holistic, and builds on the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics. Your experience in the program for a bachelor’s degree in Social Work will build on critical thinking skills that will prepare you for graduate level education in an accredited master’s degree (MSW) program.

The BSW program was designed to meet the standards required in the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards document. The full document is available through the CSWE website.
