The FAFSA Explained
If you have thought at all about getting help to finance your education—and more than 88% of Goodwin students do—the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the very first application you should submit. The FAFSA is a “need analysis” form you fill out so that the Department of Education can determine your eligibility for financial aid, and the amount. Goodwin, like many colleges and universities, also uses FAFSA information when considering student eligibility for school-based loans and certain grants and scholarships. What does the FAFSA want to
know?
It then uses a congressionally standardized formula to calculate your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and determine the amount of financial assistance you and/or your family need. *There are no questions related to race, ethnicity, or religion. What is my “Expected Family
Contribution (EFC)”? How and when should I submit my
FAFSA? Act quickly!
