Alumni Awards

Our alumni make amazing things happen. Their accomplishments significantly benefit both society and the Goodwin College campus, advancing the common good and inspiring others to address challenges with insight and strength. The Goodwin College Alumni Association’s awards program was designed to honor and celebrate alumni who have brought extraordinary credit to Goodwin College.

Each year, one nominee is selected to receive an alumni award based on the criteria noted below. Nominations are open to the Goodwin College community, including faculty and staff, students, alumni and friends of Goodwin College. Judging takes place by the members of the Alumni Leadership Committee representing the College.

The recipient of each award is recognized at the Graduation Awards Ceremony in June and is celebrated throughout the year and beyond. Each recipient’s story is also shared with the community in a variety of ways.

Distinguished Alumni Award

The Goodwin College Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes an outstanding individual who has achieved significant career success with national, regional, statewide or local prominence in his or her professional field. The recipient must have graduated at least one year prior to being nominated for the award.

Tiffany Hoxie, 2011 Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Study graduate

Siobhan S. Jager, 2005 Associate Degree in Nursing graduate

2010 Recipient
Edward Casares, 2009 Homeland Security graduate
Recognized for 30 years of service to the Hartford Fire Department and its 1st Latino fire chief

Inspirational Alumni Award

The Goodwin College Inspirational Alumni Award honors a graduate who was challenged with obstacles while pursuing his or her Goodwin education, such as personal tragedy, family issues or other unfortunate circumstances. This individual managed to complete his or her program and graduate in spite of the hardships he or she faced. The recipient must have graduated at least one year prior to being nominated for the award.

Community Service Alumni Award

The Goodwin College Community Service Alumni Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated visible and outstanding involvement in civic or charitable activities and has changed the community for the better. The recipient must have graduated at least one year prior to being nominated for the award.
