Medical Assisting Degree

Working in the health industry is both rewarding and exciting. Medical Assistants are highly motivated and enjoy interaction with patients. As a Medical Assistant, you will be working alongside physicians and facilitating their practice in every respect.

In our Medical Assisting program, you will become proficient in all clinical and administrative duties needed to be successful in the field, acting as the liaison between the physician and other individuals. You will gain the skills and knowledge needed to perform duties including scheduling patients for exams; taking patient vital signs; performing EKGs; collecting and processing specimens; preparing patients for procedures; updating filing records; and corresponding with insurance companies regarding patient matters.

As a Goodwin College Medical Assisting degree or certificate program graduate, you are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants. This nationally-recognized certification is considered the gold standard of professionalism in Medical Assisting. Only graduates of accredited programs such as Goodwin’s are eligible to sit for this examination. This certification will make you a more qualified Medical Assistant who stands out to employers.
