Connecticut River Academy at Goodwin College
Meet CTRA Magnet School Principal Tara Amatrudo
Prior to assuming her role as principal last year, Amatrudo was the assistant director at CTRA for two years and previously served as the school’s special education/SRBI coordinator. Amatrudo is passionate about providing a safe and accepting environment that utilizes innovative practices to accommodate students with different interests, talents, and skills at CTRA. Under the unifying theme of sustainability she works to promote inclusivity within the school and works closely with staff and students to foster a multicultural community that celebrates kindness, tolerance, and individualized learning.
A message from Tara
"At CTRA we work together to find ways of contributing to justice and sustainability by striving to consistently live our core values of awareness, diversity, and action. These values are made explicit throughout our curriculum in the form of our magnet standards, which are the driving force behind all of our learning – both formal and informal. At CTRA, we are fortunate to have a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility enriched by incredible resources that bring our sustainability theme to life through early college, environmental studies, and advanced manufacturing programming.
Furthermore, CTRA invests heavily in the concepts of equity, growth, and community. We work to serve the needs of each community member under the belief that each of us has something to give and something to gain from each other. This work occurs through a cycle of continuous improvement using data driven, research based methods that keep the scholar at the heart of what we do. The role of partnerships in this work cannot be understated. Families, local organizations and businesses, and our friends at Goodwin College and LEARN are critical to our scholars’ success on all counts. It is my hope that the more you get to know us, the clearer it is that each member of our community is inextricably linked to the high quality educational experience we seek to provide each and every scholar as we work towards our vision of contributing to a just and sustainable world."
With warmest regards,
Tara Amatrudo, Principal
