They are graduating high school and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">college\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and hitting the corporate ground running. According to interviews conducted by\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Forbes<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">,\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Insiders<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">, and the\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">NY Times<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">, this generation isn\u2019t waiting for their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">one-year<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0anniversary at the job to make a petition for change, but rather at the interviewing stage.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:480}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">The current workforce comprises\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">five\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">generations\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">including\u00a0m<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">illennials with the largest representation,\u00a0Generation X,\u00a0baby\u00a0boomers,\u00a0generation\u00a0silent (or\u00a0traditionalist), and the youngest, Gen Z.\u00a0With each new generation that enters the workforce comes a wave of new concepts that redefine how we work.\u00a0The labor market\u00a0has been reworked and revised\u00a0by\u00a0computers, the\u00a0start-up boom, and\u00a0WeWork\u00a0styles\u00a0of\u00a0communal\u00a0workspaces,\u00a0and\u00a0each\u00a0change was\u00a0met with skepticism.\u00a0The corporate culture was set in its way, until something new popped up. Now the new normal\u00a0is\u00a0rushing to the working world and\u00a0it\u2019s shaping up to leave a lasting\u00a0mark,\u00a0even after the pandemic has lifted.\u00a0Though some\u00a0expect, and even demand, that the world\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">goes\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">back to traditional normal, Gen Z is ready to buck the system.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:480}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">There&#8217;s no name or catchy phrase to define this new work-life concept, but for now, let\u2019s call it the \u201cGen Z Revision.\u201d Imagine for a moment, your work environment already operating in these revisions. Your schedule is flexible, not to allow slacking off, but to allow clocking out when your work is completed. This eliminates busy work and the stress of trying to look busy while killing time until 5 p.m. As you work, you look around at your co-workers and employer and see a diverse collective of people. There is effortless representation and inclusion throughout the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">work\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">you produce as a team.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This in turn\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">leads to a sense of fulfillment in your work. Your\u00a0employer\u00a0expresses their appreciation for\u00a0you,\u00a0and you don\u2019t feel replaceable; best of all,\u00a0your salary reflects this.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:480}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">To some, this may seem like a dream world that belongs in the\u00a0metaverse, that it would be nice, but impractical. To others, like Goodwin University, this is the world we exist in. We believe in the benefits of a flexible schedule. Instead of holding courses\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">degree programs<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">offered only during\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">traditional daytime hours, our students\u00a0are able to\u00a0learn\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">at a time that\u2019s convenient for them<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and grow at the pace they need to succeed. There\u2019s no need to accomplish one goal at a time when you have a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/admissions\/flexibility\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">flexible schedule<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Within our classrooms, space is created for inclusion and belonging. The best people have to offer can shine when they\u2019re surrounded by diversity. As our alumna\u00a0Jesline\u00a0Rosario puts it, \u201cT<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">he diverse student body\u202fopened my mind and impacted my way of thinking. People ranged in age, race, gender, and ethnicity, and it was a safe and enriching environment. Through debates and discussions, I was exposed to a variety of different beliefs and cultures, all of which were celebrated.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Diversity matters, and just as much, feeling supported does as well. Our faculty and staff take the educational journey with our students. Instead of leaving them at\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/admissions\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">admissions<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, we support and encourage them from orientation to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">commencement<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. Similar support and partnership are what Gen Z seeks from their companies and supervisors.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:480}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Some employers are taken aback by such requests, while others expected this type of change and it&#8217;s why they hired Gen\u00a0Zers. They want their companies to experience a shift, to keep up with the consumers and the changing market.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:480}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We at Goodwin University found that our approach to teaching and learning aligns with Gen Z\u2019s approach to working. Graduates from Goodwin won\u2019t find this Gen Z Revision out of place. Since we cater to our students with flexible schedules, diverse staff and classrooms, and support\u00a0for\u00a0their goals and passions, they\u2019re ready for this type of change. Ultimately, Gen Z is seeking to create a corporate culture of fairness and well-being. It\u2019s what most people would say they want for their lives, but you can\u2019t hope to have that if you don\u2019t start with where most of your days and hours are spent.
