(CLN) <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">recognized the statewide Council of Deans &amp; Directors<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> includes <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Janice Watts<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Associate Dean of Goodwin\u2019s School of Nursing and Health Professions, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">for their <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Outstanding <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Leadership and Vision for Excellence in Nursing Education by presenting the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">m<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> with the 2020 President\u2019s Award.\u202fTh<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> recognize<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a group of volunteers who ha<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ve<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> contributed significantly through the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ir<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> donation of time, demonstration of commitment to nursing, active participation and engagement in CLN<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> commitment to furthering the mission and goals of the organization.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe decision to select the 2020 President\u2019s Award was an easy one<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">stated CLN <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">b<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">oard <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">resident<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ann Spenard, DNP, RN-BC, and Chief Clinical Officer at National Health Care Associates.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNever have I seen such a focused, proactive<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and determined group<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> who put students first to ensure that all senior nursing students were in a positive position to meet program outcomes and graduate from their respective programs during this COVID-19 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">andemic.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">The innovation and creativity by the Council to assess, align<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and adopt high-quality virtual simulated modalities to augment clinical experiences in such a short<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">eight<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-week timeframe was a momentous undertaking.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The entire CLN Council of Deans &amp; Directors and the Council leadership<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2014<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hairs<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Meredith Kazer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fairfield University<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and Janice Watts<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Goodwin University<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">v<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ice <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hairs<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rosemarie Baker<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">St. Vincent\u2019s College at Sacred Heart University<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and Nancy Manister<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">etired, UCONN School of Nursing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2014 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were praised for their guidance and facilitation of myriad undertakings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Their initia<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ti<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ves included<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">m<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">obilizing collaborative efforts through <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">effective<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> communication at the onset of the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">andemic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">donati<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ng<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> PPE and other needed supplies to Connecticut practice settings<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">; and c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reating <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and sharing <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a prompt response to the National Policy Briefing on how <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ursing <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ducation could <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">capitalize on<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> talents, resources<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> expertise<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> the capacity of the Council.<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Six work groups were developed to address the issues brought about by COVID-19 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">related to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> educating nursing students and ensur<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a robust nursing workforce for the state.\u202f\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As a collaborative group of nurse educators, the CLN Council of Deans &amp;
