{"id":7351,"date":"2020-06-11T12:16:37","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T16:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/?p=7351"},"modified":"2024-12-17T17:09:42","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T22:09:42","slug":"craig-drezek-superintendent-of-magnet-schools-passes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/craig-drezek-superintendent-of-magnet-schools-passes\/","title":{"rendered":"Craig Drezek, Superintendent of Goodwin Magnet Schools, Passes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Goodwin University is sad to share news<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tragic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> passing of our colleague <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Craig Drezek<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Superintendent of Goodwin University Magnet Schools<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> and Dean of Early College Programs and Educational Partnerships<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> on<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> June 3<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> as a result of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">his battle with <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cIt\u2019s impossible to accurately convey the incredible impact Craig made,\u201d said Goodwin president <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Mark Scheinberg<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">. \u201cHis larger-than-life presence was offset by his true commitment to creating new educational opportunities for students \u2014 especially those operating at a disadvantage. He was endlessly resourceful, disarmingly down to earth, and embodied all that is right about the Goodwin spirit.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Goodwin<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">University\u2019s <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">board president, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Dr. Maria Ellis<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, shared this thought: \u201cCraig understood that learners come <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to us at<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> many levels of abilit<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">y<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. F<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">or<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> some, that may mean earning a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">master\u2019s degree<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. For others, it may mean receiving a certificate or <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">being accepted for <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">an internship, but everyone deserves a shot at their dream. He worked hard to make that <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">a reality<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Craig<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> worked tirelessly to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">align<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> the University and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/magnet-schools\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the magnet schools<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, philosophically <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> academically. He was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">an<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> innovator, always<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> looking for ways to <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">find<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> new<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> learning pathways <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> the youngest members of our campus to the oldest. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Among the programs under <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">his<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> care were <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Accessing College Now<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">enabling high school students to take online college courses during the pandemic;\u202f<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">CTP THINK College<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">providing academic enrichment and career preparation to transitioning special needs students to\u202fdevelop independent living and self-advocacy skills and integrated work experiences that lead to employment;<\/span> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Early College Advanced Manufacturing Program (<\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/high-school-ecamp-program\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">ECAMP<\/span><\/b><\/a><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">creating access for local high school district students to Goodwin&#8217;s manufacturing training programs;<\/span> <b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Goodwin Kid Care<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">providing on-site child care for Goodwin students;
