For 2019, Goodwin College will once again participate in Foodshare\u2019s \u201cTurkey + 30\u201d campaign, allowing individuals to support local families in need during the holiday season. A community effort is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. The collection spot will be the parking lot at 195 Riverside Drive in East Hartford. Participants will be able to drive through and hand off their donations to the volunteers. The donation of a turkey and 30 dollars is encouraged, but gifts of all amounts are welcome and appreciated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to be partnering again with Foodshare on the Turkey + 30 drive and serving our community,\u201d said Maura Callahan, who is leading coordination efforts at the College. \u201cIt\u2019s become a beloved tradition here. Our students and employees have been wonderful about volunteering hours to help with the drive.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2018, Foodshare collected enough turkeys for all 15,621 local families in the Greater Hartford community who requested one. Goodwin has set its goals this year at 150 turkeys and $2,000 in monetary donations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe encourage everyone \u2014 inside and outside the Goodwin community \u2014 to participate in the drive on November 21,\u201d Callahan said. \u201cWe\u2019ll have helpful volunteers, music, and local radio personalities at the drive. We hope our friends and neighbors will help join us.\u201d<\/p>\n
