According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, registered nursing (RN) careers are expected to grow <strong>15 percent<\/strong>, with more than 438,000 jobs becoming available by the year 2026. In Connecticut specifically, registered nursing is the <strong>fourth largest employment sector <\/strong>today, with more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www1.ctdol.state.ct.us\/lmi\/hotnot_results.asp\">2,000<\/a> job openings each year and more than 37,500 registered nursing jobs expected to exist statewide by 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the high demand for registered nurses, and with increasing emphasis on (and preference for) BSN-educated nurses, some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/nursing\/\">nursing schools<\/a> are now offering accelerated or \u201cfast-track\u201d nursing programs to keep up. It offers the quickest route to becoming a nurse, in comparison to your typical, four-year bachelor\u2019s degree programs. There are two different types of fast-track BSN programs today:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Accelerated, second degree BSN programs<\/strong> for <em>non-nurses<\/em> with a bachelor\u2019s degree in another major. Much like the name implies, this program allows you to transition from an associate degree in Nursing to a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Nursing, at a much faster pace than your usual 3-to-4-year BSN.
