{"id":4818,"date":"2018-07-19T14:41:44","date_gmt":"2018-07-19T18:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/?p=4818"},"modified":"2024-12-16T12:11:17","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T17:11:17","slug":"maryann-santos-recognized-among-vision-monday-women-of-influence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/maryann-santos-recognized-among-vision-monday-women-of-influence\/","title":{"rendered":"Maryann Santos Recognized Among \u201cWomen of Influence\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In its July 9, 2018, edition, <em>Vision Monday<\/em> included Goodwin College\u2019s director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/vision-care\/\">Vision Care Technology<\/a>, Maryann Santos, on its list of Women of Influence.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1987 and with a current print readership of 20,000 influential retail buyers, <em>Vision Monday<\/em> is considered the ophthalmic industry&#8217;s leading source of news and analysis. It reaches an additional online audience through multiple launches each week.<\/p>\n<p><em>Vision Monday<\/em> describes the Women of Influence initiative as its \u201cannual celebration of the immeasurable impact that women have on all levels of our industry. You\u2019ll find women of all ages and backgrounds who use their knowledge and skills to build and lead optical businesses and eyecare practices while enriching the lives of their customers, patients, students and colleagues. They\u2019re smart, creative, hardworking and caring, and they inspire us to be better at what we do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The honorees are organized into four categories: Executive Suite, Rising Stars, Innovators, and Mentors, the latter category in which Santos is recognized.<\/p>\n<p>Her biography in <em>Vision Monday<\/em> reads: \u201cMaryann Santos lives, breathes, and even blogs optical education. Education has been a focus of her life since she entered the optical field as an apprentice optician out of high school. Over the years, while working as a dispensing optician, she earned associate, bachelor\u2019s, and master\u2019s degrees in business and education as well as her ABO, ABO Masters and NCLE certifications. Santos was managing her own optical dispensary training business when the opportunity to establish an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/vision-care\/as-degree-program-outcomes\">opticianry program<\/a> at Goodwin College presented itself in 2013.
