Goodwin College is proud to honor the life and accomplishments of three extraordinary leaders at its Real Life, Real Women<\/em> event on Sunday, April 30, at the G. Fox Ballroom in Hartford. This year\u2019s honorees include Commissioner Melody Currey, businesswoman and Goodwin College trustee Donna Galluzzo, and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese women represent some of the most powerful and accomplished women in Connecticut\u2019s civic, community, and business arenas,\u201d Goodwin Vice President for Advancement Brooke Penders said.\u00a0\u201cEach woman possesses exceptional qualities that we also see in Goodwin\u2019s female students: hard work, determination, compassion, and commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since 1984, Commissioner Melody Currey<\/strong> has been an advocate for the public good in East Hartford and across Connecticut. Beginning as a homemaker, she volunteered in numerous community organizations and contributed to the welfare of her local community before seeking higher office and eventually accepting the appointment of Commissioner at the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services.<\/p>\n

Donna Galluzzo<\/strong> is a Ph.D. and the former president of The Corridor Group. She was a founding member of the Goodwin College Foundation Board and currently serves as a member of the Goodwin Board of Trustees. She has been a successful business owner, an active volunteer in the Connecticut business community, and a sought-after leader for many causes, both civic and professional. She has been recognized for her dedication to serving others and strengthening communities.<\/p>\n

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman<\/strong>, a former x-ray technician, nurtured a vision of service to others through private and public action, first through her local school board and eventually as Lieutenant Governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognize these women for their determination, their generosity, their belief in the value of serving others, and their vision of a world where women can do anything without apology,\u201d stated Brunch Co-Chair Jacqueline Jacoby. \u201cWe thank Melody, Donna, and Nancy for the inspiring examples they have set for us all.\u201d<\/p>\n
