Goodwin graduated 67 nurses as part of its 33rd<\/sup> graduating class on April 21, 2016.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

On April 21, 2016, friends, family, and future nurses packed the Goodwin auditorium to honor the hard work of the latest class of graduates from the College\u2019s nursing school<\/a>. The 67 graduates marched into the Goodwin auditorium to the cheers of those friends and family, clad in a nurse\u2019s white uniform.<\/p>\n

The pinning ceremony is the first time that those students wear their complete white uniform, as nursing faculty welcome the graduates to the profession as colleagues.\u00a0 Nursing Department Chair Janice Watts offered welcoming remarks, and moved the students with her emotional and encouraging words about the profession they were about to enter.<\/p>\n

Watts presented each new nurse in turn with their traditional nursing pin, while faculty member Pam Walker read their affirmations aloud to the audience.<\/p>\n

As the ceremony concluded, the lights in the auditorium were dimmed as the new RNs lit their candles and recited the International Council of Nurses\u2019 Pledge: \u201cIn the full knowledge of the task I am undertaking, I promise to take care of the sick with all the skill and understanding I possess, without regard to race, creed, color, politics, or social status, sparing no effort to conserve life, to alleviate suffering, and promote health.\u2028I will respect at all times the dignity and religious beliefs of the patients entrusted in my care, holding in confidence all personal information entrusted to me and refraining from any action which might endanger life or health. \u2028I will endeavor to keep my professional knowledge and skill at the highest level and give loyal support and cooperation to all members of the health team.\u201d<\/p>\n
