With more and more nurses earning a bachelor\u2019s degree, joining a BSN program can be a great way to stay ahead of the curve in the job market in CT and around the country. But the thought of taking the time to pursue a four-year degree can be a tough pill to swallow for many potential students.<\/p>\n

An Accelerated BSN degree<\/a> is specifically designed to help individuals looking to pursue nursing, but might have already completed another course of study. This style of fast track learning can certify students for a job in nursing in less than two years!<\/p>\n

Goodwin College\u2019s RN-to-BSN curriculum can be completed part-time in just 16 months. Goodwin designed its BSN program around its students\u2019 busy lifestyle. And Goodwin\u2019s BSN program can be taken online or in a hybrid format. Graduates of the program are prepared to practice in a variety of areas with knowledge and skills that are transferrable to multiple settings.<\/p>\n

Students of an Accelerated BSN program can expect an intensive course load that focuses on career-specific learning. Students in Goodwin\u2019s BSN program<\/a> will learn how to promote general health amongst diverse populations, and practice professional nursing from a holistic, visionary, culturally competent, and fiscally responsible base of knowledge. They will also learn how to synthesize and apply knowledge from nursing theory, practice, research, and the liberal arts and sciences to professional nursing practice.<\/p>\n

As part of a greater move towards dynamic, competent health care, Connecticut is looking at an 80% BSN workforce by the year 2020. And 78.6% of all healthcare employers express a strong preference for BSN graduates, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.<\/p>\n

A recent State Department of Labor survey of private sector Connecticut employers in fall 2014 revealed 1,763 openings for registered nursing positions. And that number grew from 1,677 vacancies ten years earlier! Vacancies for nurses are on the rise, and BSN degrees help set job seekers apart.<\/p>\n
