Goodwin&rsquo;s Director of Student Retention, Campus Recreation, and Athletics Eric Emet reports, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m quite optimistic about this year&rsquo;s squad, as we&rsquo;ve already defeated three teams ranked significantly higher than Goodwin.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Navs&rsquo; captain and current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/criminal-justice\/\" target=\"-blank\">Criminal Justice<\/a> major Michael Hemingway leads the team both on and off the court, carrying a 3.71 GPA and serving as a four-year starting guard.<\/p>\n<p>The men will have to work hard to live up to their ranking; winning the conference will require beating Harvard, Sacred Heart, Assumption, Skidmore, University of Vermont, and UMass Lowell.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Playing in the New England Region Conference will put more miles on our team bus,&rdquo; Emet continued, &ldquo;but it will definitely make for quite a memorable season!&rdquo;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goodwin&#8217;s men&rdquo;s basketball team placed 31st on the pre-season Rawlings NCCBA Division 1 rankings, and will play in the New England Region Conference.
