{"id":1783,"date":"2015-08-26T15:03:43","date_gmt":"2015-08-26T19:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/?p=1783"},"modified":"2024-12-16T10:48:57","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T15:48:57","slug":"ctra-magnet-high-school-success-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/ctra-magnet-high-school-success-story\/","title":{"rendered":"Connecticut River Academy Success Story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Connecticut River Academy\u00a0father\u00a0was very happy when his\u00a0daughter was accepted\u00a0into Goodwin College&rsquo;s magnet high school, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/magnet-schools\/connecticut-river-academy\/\">Connecticut River Academy<\/a> (CTRA), located just down the road from campus.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0was impressed with the school for many reasons. &ldquo;I really liked CTRA&rsquo;s program. The school is totally different from other magnet schools in Connecticut because it&rsquo;s a part of Goodwin College,&rdquo; he stated. &ldquo;CTRA is preparing my daughter with all the necessary tools for a bright future,&rdquo; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>At CTRA,\u00a0students have\u00a0the opportunity to take up to\u00a030 tuition-free, transferable college credits at Goodwin College during\u00a0their junior and senior year of high school.<\/p>\n<p>His\u00a0daughter\u00a0is now entering her junior year of high school. &ldquo;It has been really easy to make friends,&rdquo; she noted. &ldquo;CTRA has given me the opportunity to meet people with different personalities, and everything we learn is preparing us for the future.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0wanted his daughter to have all the tools necessary for college and beyond. &ldquo;All schools try to help their students, but CTRA in particular has been very hands-on,&#8221; he\u00a0stated. &ldquo;They&rsquo;ve really helped me raise her.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He enjoys the one-on-one communication with his daughter&#8217;s\u00a0teachers. &ldquo;They walk you through everything,&rdquo; he commented. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m even able to go online to check on how she&rsquo;s doing in her classes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>His daughter is able to utilize the afterschool program <em>Bridge to Success<\/em>, where she is given time for homework assignments and activities like team building.
