On Friday, June 19, 170 guests gathered for the second annual Goodwin College clambake event to support student scholarships on Connecticut River Academy’s expansive patio. Goodwin’s partner high school, located just down the road from campus along the Connecticut River, provided the perfect backdrop for this festive evening.<\/p>\n

Guests donned nautical attire and were greeted by a bountiful seafood selection, a bar with various drink selections, and complimentary boat rides on the glistening water.<\/p>\n

Donors, faculty and staff members, sponsored students, and other friends of the College spent the evening socializing, networking, and snapping photos in front of the “Selfie Booth.”<\/p>\n

The event was catered by Flanders Fish Market of East Lyme and J Restaurant of Hartford. Nets of corn, potatoes, and lobster were served for dinner. The Doomie Brothers provided musical entertainment throughout the evening. There was\u00a0also a prize drawing including themed baskets and gift cards.<\/p>\n

Goodwin College’s president, Mark Scheinberg shared his gratitude for the overwhelming amount of support. “It’s a very heartwarming night.”<\/p>\n

Scholarship donor and longtime friend of the College Frank Collins spoke highly of the event. “My wife Ceil and I feel very strongly about Goodwin College,” he said. “They are trying to help people who want to advance themselves. The school designs programs for\u00a0students and they get jobs. We give scholarship support so students can advance and move on.”<\/p>\n

At the end of the night, more than $30,000 was raised. Donations from events and annual campaigns provide the much deserved and much appreciated support Goodwin students need to succeed. Over the past year, with support from many alumni, friends, and partners at events like the annual Clambake, the Goodwin College Foundation has awarded 44 scholarships for a total of $126,000 in student aid.<\/p>\n
