{"id":11803,"date":"2023-11-07T11:44:51","date_gmt":"2023-11-07T16:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/?p=11803"},"modified":"2024-12-17T09:46:31","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T14:46:31","slug":"new-dean-of-school-of-nursing-and-health-professions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/enews\/new-dean-of-school-of-nursing-and-health-professions\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Vivienne Friday Appointed Dean of School of Nursing and Health Professions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Goodwin University is pleased to announce that Dr. Vivienne Friday has been appointed dean of Goodwin University\u2019s School of Nursing and Health Professions (NHP), effective November 6, 2023, having served as interim dean for the past year.<\/p>\n<p>With an Ed.D. from the College of Saint Mary, Dr. Friday is an experienced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/glossary\/nurse-educator\">nurse educator<\/a> with a love for learning. She has received the National League for Nursing (NLN) Hearst Award for Excellence in Gerontology Education, was a contributing author to an NLN gerontological nursing textbook, and contributes to the wellbeing of older adults in the community through voluntary service with AARP and the Connecticut Agency for Aging. She has presented at regional, national, and international conferences including University of Bridgeport Faculty Research Day, the Nurse Educator Conference, and the International Council of Nurses. She has authored articles in journals such as the peer-reviewed \u201cNurse Educator\u201d and \u201cNurse Educator Perspectives\u201d and is an advanced communicator with Toastmasters International. At Goodwin, her work has included the development of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/accelerated-bsn\/\">Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)<\/a> degree program and the redesign of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodwin.edu\/majors\/rn-to-bsn\/\">RN-to-BSN program.<\/a> Dr. Friday has served on the Faculty Senate, Institutional Review Board, faculty evaluation committee, academic affairs committee, and promotions committee. She was a 2020 cohort member of the Goodwin\u2019s Leadership Education and Development program and is a Universal Design for Learning teaching fellow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply humbled and honored to accept this position at Goodwin University, and I thank the leadership team for their confidence in my abilities and vision for the future of this institution,\u201d offered Dr. Friday. \u201cI am keenly aware of the immense responsibility that comes with this position, and I pledge to work tirelessly to uphold the values and standards of Goodwin\u2019s mission as an \u2018innovative learning community that empowers hard-working students to become sought-after employees.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>University leadership is enthusiastic about the talents that Dr. Friday brings to NHP, its programs, and its students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted with this appointment,\u201d said Goodwin president <strong>Mark Scheinberg<\/strong>, \u201cOur healthcare offerings have long been among our leading flagship programs, so it was critical to find the right combination of academic experience and personal investment in our students.
