Summer Bridge Program Goodwin College’s Summer Bridge program is designed for rising high school seniors, recent high school graduates and adult education learners 20-years-old or younger who wish to better prepare for the academic and social challenges of attending college. This rigorous, 6-week program is geared to provide students with an opportunity to learn useful study skills and to enhance writing and reading skills while earning college credit. Over the past three years, Goodwin College has strengthened the academic and college preparatory skills of nearly 200 of the region’s youth. In 2009, enrollment constituted 78 students, 63 of whom were high school graduates and 15 of whom were rising seniors. Of the 63 graduates, 58 enrolled in colleges in the fall; 33 enrolled at Goodwin and 25 enrolled in colleges across the country. Mission The Summer Bridge program strives to prepare college-bound 17 to 20 year-olds with the intellectual stimulation, social responsibility and leadership development required to succeed in impending college commitments and daily life. Goodwin College promises the integrity and success of the program and its students by providing academic materials, social knowledge and general support. |
