Rebuild, rejoice! Goodwin College students, faculty and staff are invited to join this April in an effort to benefit the lives and homes of at-risk and in-need Manchester residents. Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit and the largest organization assembling volunteers for home restoration, slates its National Rebuilding Day for April 28th 2012.
Rally with your friends and family to support Rebuilding Together’s 20th annual repair-and-restore event. Goodwin College celebrates its fifth year of participating in the program. Don’t miss this opportunity to support a good cause and to make a difference in the Manchester community. Students requiring community involvement hours can use this towards their quotas.
Formerly known as Christmas in April, Rebuilding Together unifies people from all walks of life to improve the homes and lives of low-income homeowners, providing free repair services for those with the greatest need. The program places a special focus on the elderly, disabled or displaced. Rebuilding Together reaches out to those cannot implement home repairs on their own. Each year, on the last Saturday in April, Rebuilding Together volunteers help Manchester residents to regain their homes and their dignity.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th; volunteers will work until noon and then proceed to Northwest Park for a picnic.
No special skills are required – only the desire to assist a fellow human being.
