Students will gain knowledge of how to work with children and their families in a variety of settings based on child development and age appropriate practice. Early Childhood professionals have a deep knowledge of child growth, development and learning, are able to apply this knowledge into their practice and can communicate effectively with children, colleagues and families. This degree program is grounded in developmental theory and emerging educational trends in early childhood education. Upon completion of the program students will have developed ethical decision-making abilities and the skills to foster relationships through creative problem-solving techniques. Early Childhood professionals must acquire these skills in order to lead high quality programs for young children. Graduation requirementsAll Child Study major core requirements must be completed with a cumulative G.P.A. (grade point average) of 2.5 or higher and meet the general graduation requirements as stated in the catalog. ECE 250 Student Teaching and ECE 450 Capstone are not transferable into the program from another institution.
