Purpose
The Human Services Student Advisory
Council will contribute to the
development and continuous updating of
the Human Services Program. It is
established:
- in order to seek advice, input and
feedback from students
- to provide a channel for communication
between students, faculty and the
department director
- to provide students with a voice in
the development of the program
- to provide students with an
opportunity for leadership roles
- to create an approachable atmosphere
for students to voice their concerns;
and,
- to enable students to make a
difference in their program and College
Membership
Membership on the Human Services Student
Advisory council will consist of six
students who:
- are current and active in the Human
Services program
- have completed HSR 101 – Introduction
to Human Services
- have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- are recommended by a faculty member
Term
Each semester two students who meet the
above membership criteria will be
appointed to the Council
Students shall serve a maximum term of
three semesters and shall be invited to
be on the Council as long as he or she:
- contributes positively to the purpose
of the Council,
- attends meetings with a reasonable
degree of regularity; and,
- desires to remain a member
Officers
There shall be one officer, the
Chairperson, elected by the student
members of the Council. A Chairperson
shall be elected each semester. A member
may serve as Chairperson for more than
one semester if elected to do so.
Meetings
Meetings will generally be held once per
semester. The Council may meet more
frequently upon the request of a student
member, faculty member or by the
decision of the Program Director.
Minutes will be kept of all meetings.
