General Education requirements reflect the College’s mission. All students are required to complete courses that relate to five learning perspectives. In addition, Bachelor of Science students also complete additional core courses that meet five competencies. Learning objectives areas are introduced in general education courses and then reinforced in courses that students take in their major.

The department extends a warm welcome to the new full-time faculty members Dr. Diane Sperger, Professor of Foundational English and Dr. Gaylynn Moore-Collins, Professor of Sociology.

Professor Roger Ellsbury published the fourth book in his series, Delmar’s Math Review Series for Health Care Professionals.

Professors Tammy Webb and Elizabeth Lane will present their research related to assessing online learning at the Texas A&M National Conference on Assessment in February.

Professor Beauchemin attended the three-day Campus Technology Conference in Boston.

Professor Salvio completed a program on East Asian Studies at Yale University and attended the National Conference on Humanities in Texas.

Professors Shea, Ellsbury and White attended the Creating a Prime Learning Environment Math Conference in New York City.

Professor Lane and Webb are earning a national certification that qualifies them to review the quality of online and blended courses.

Professor Levy-Grant attended a national conference on Student Success in Florida.

Author Randy Laist had two papers published and he will present a paper at the Northeast Popular American Culture conference.

The newest member of the General Education faculty, Dr. Rod Carveth presented four research papers at the Association for Business Convention in Canada.
