Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on the sex of employees and students of educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance. In compliance with Title IX, Goodwin College prohibits sex-based discrimination in all of its programs and activities. As such, members of the College community, guests and visitors have the right to be free from sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence, nonconsensual sexual contact, nonconsensual sexual intercourse, sexual exploitation, and other sex-based behaviors at all times.
To ensure compliance with Title IX and other federal and state civil rights laws, Goodwin has designated Megan Monahan as the College’s Title IX Coordinator. Megan is charged with overseeing all aspects of Title IX compliance and ensuring that reports of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence are investigated and addressed by the College. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org and (860)727-6741. Any student, faculty, or staff member with questions about Title IX or who believes (s)he has been the victim of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, or sexual violence is encouraged to contact the Title IX Coordinator’s office.
Goodwin College also complies with The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) amendments to the Clery Act and has policies prohibiting sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence (defined here as intimate partner violence), and stalking.
