Who is my advisor?
Your advisor is assigned based on the academic program you are enrolled in. See this guide for a detailed listing.

Do I need an appointment to meet with my advisor?
We highly encourage students to make appointments to see their advisors. Doing so allows the advisor sufficient time to prepare for your meeting and better assist you. To schedule an appointment, visit your department’s advising page for appropriate points of contact.

How do I stay up-to-date on academic matters?
In order to stay up-to-date on academic matters, we recommend checking your student e-mail at least once daily. This is the most common medium advisors use to contact their students. For instructions on accessing your Goodwin College e-mail account, click here.

Does Goodwin offer tutoring services if I am struggling in a course?
The Academic Success Center, located in Room 209, offers tutoring opportunities to all students by providing additional sessions in study and critical thinking skills as well as test-taking strategies

What is a degree audit?
A degree audit is a comprehensive review of the courses you’ve taken throughout your plan of study as well as any you courses you may have transferred into Goodwin College. Your advisor can run a degree audit to determine what courses you still must take to complete the degree you are enrolled in or to show you how your credits may be applied in another program.

How do I register for courses?
Registration is completed using our online student information system, Sonisweb. This guide will take you step by step through the registration process.

When can I register for classes?
Registration for current students occurs in November, March and July during week ten of every semester. Refer to the Current Students Events and Announcements section for specific semester registration information.

What is my Sonisweb PIN?
Your Sonisweb PIN was created when you initially enrolled in class here at Goodwin College. If you have since forgotten it, contact Information Technology at 860-727-6743 to have your PIN reset.

What are the differences between dropping and withdrawing from a course?
Dropped courses will not appear on your transcript nor will they count as credit hours attempted. You will be refunded 50% of the course tuition if you drop a course. Withdrawal from a course results in a “W” on your transcript and credit hours attempted without any effect on GPA. You will be charged 100% tuition for a course you withdraw from. Be sure to consult the current semester’s academic calendar for drop and withdrawal deadlines. For specific questions about how adding, dropping and withdrawing from a class effect your financial aid, please speak to your Financial Aid Officer.

How do I access my online coursework?
Online coursework is completed through the Blackboard learning management system. For login instructions, see this guide. For further instruction, contact your advisor for information regarding upcoming online learning orientation sessions.

Is it possible to get credit by exam without taking a course?
Yes, you can earn credit-by-examination in a variety of subjects. Additionally, Goodwin College offers its own internal credit-by-examination opportunities for select subjects.
