Planning and Assessment
We manage a planning and evaluation process that advances student learning outcomes and fulfills the College mission. Our office supports strategic planning, curriculum planning, academic and administrative department planning and assessment processes, including the College’s formal program review process. You can find many of our assessment activities scheduled on our departments’ master planning calendar.
The College’s strategic plan provides the foundation for all of the College’s planning activities. It is formally reviewed every five years by all levels of the Goodwin College Community. Members of the administration, staff, faculty, students and alumni attend a retreat in March to discuss where we are, what we have accomplished, and what we need to do. Each academic department then creates and aligns their own annual plan with the College’s strategic plan. Our office assesses the feasibility of new programs based on student and community needs, and the College’s viability. We remain involved through program implementation. We also initiate and maintain articulation agreements with 4-year institutions, and conduct periodic reviews of experientially based programs for the possible award of college credit. The College Committee on Assessment oversees a program review process in which all academic programs and college services complete a self-study every five years. The College uses this process, along with an annual program review process, to identify desired outcomes, to assess whether outcomes are achieved, and to provide evidence of improvement based on analyses of results. We store all program review documents online in a password protected archive (Document Archive Login). The archive includes meeting minutes, self-study report guides, rubrics and other online resources.
