BUS 123 - Principles of Insurance

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: NONE)

This course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles of insurance, especially property and casualty coverage. Students will learn about insurance regulation, general insurance concepts, property and casualty insurance basics, dwelling and homeowners policies, auto insurance, commercial package policies, business-owners coverage, workers' compensation insurance, and other surplus and excess lines of coverage. Successful understanding of the above topics will prepare students to sit for the state licensure examination in property/casualty insurance. The course will also delve into general principles of life and health insurance. (F, Sp)
