OTA 205 - Pediatric Populations and the Occupational Therapy Assistant

4 credits (PREREQUISITE or COREQUISITE: OTA 101)

This course presents the pathophysiology, etiology, clinical signs and implications for intervention of various conditions seen in pediatric disabilities across practice settings, in a problem-based learning approach with didactic and hands-on activities. This course presents the principles and practices of occupational therapy for services provided for infants, children and adolescents. Students study provision of occupational therapy services in medical, educational and community-based settings. Additionally, this course presents management aspects of occupational therapy practice in addition to reimbursement models and documentation. Lecture and lab. (Sp, Su)
