PSS 350 - Multiculturalism in Public Safety and Security

3 credits (PREREQUISITES: HSM 105, PHIL 103 or PHIL 105 or DEPARTMENTAL PERMISSION)

This course will examine the importance of multiculturalism within public service as well as the relationship of public service and a multicultural society. Students will identify differences between specific cultures and how to address stereotypes and related issues. Students will examine how cultural differences impact perceptions and relationships. The course will identify barriers to communication and issues related to discriminatory activities. National and international trends will be identified and compared. MC (Sp)
