HSR 230 Introduction to Counseling

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: PSY 112)

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the historical development of counseling, knowledge of the counseling profession, roles and functions of counselors, professional expectations, and introductory counseling skills and techniques. In addition, students will demonstrate the ability to create documentation typically used in the counseling professions. This course provides a foundation for students to take advanced counseling courses such as individual and group counseling. (F, Sp, Su)
