HSM 143 - Transportation and Border Security

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: NONE)

This course provides an in-depth view of modern border and transportation security. Topics of study will include: aircraft and airports; trains, ground transportation and related terminals; ships and seaports; and major border-crossing control points. Existing and emergent technologies needed to detect terrorists, their weapons, and inherent vulnerabilities in infrastructure will be a special emphasis of the course. Additional topics will include: legal, economic, political and cultural aspects of transportation safety and border security. The course will provide students with an understanding of the variety of challenges inherent in transportation and border security. (Su)
