Community Service Requirement

Goodwin College Bachelor of Science degree students and Associate in Science in General Studies students are required to perform 20 hours of community service through our Community Service and Explorations initiative (CSE) before graduation. The mission of the community service requirement is to create lifelong learners who develop civic responsibility. Students are given the opportunity to become part of a larger community beyond the college, to experience the personal fulfillment of service, to develop leadership skills and self-esteem, to experience the benefit to others of service and hard work, and to develop creative contributions in their future communities. At the conclusion of the 20 hours of service, each student is required to submit a five-page paper describing the service experience and relating how it affected both themselves and the community. Community service hours must be completed no later than two months prior to the student's expected graduation date.
