PSY 218 - Adolescent Development

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: PSY 112)

The physical, cognitive and social-emotional development of adolescents, with special emphasis on major theories and research methods are examined in this course. Students will consider the influence of heredity, family, peers, school, media and community as contexts within which adolescents develop. Discussion will focus on diversity issues such as culture, socio-economic class, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation, as well as common adolescent problems. SS (Sp)
