CJS 150 - Criminology

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: NONE)

This course places special focus on contemporary areas and issues such as feminist theories and feminist criminology; biological and genetic theories of criminal behavior; violence in the media; family assault and its criminalization; crimes of violence against women in America and abroad; mass murder in the United States; school violence and shootings; hate crimes and terrorism in America. Society's response to crime is covered and addresses the question of how security and freedom interface in an age of increasing globalism. (F)
