ECE 221 - Social and Emotional Development in Young Children

3 credits (PREREQUISITE: NONE)

This course is designed for students to gain knowledge and understanding of social-emotional development in young children from birth-age 8. Students will explore attachment theory as it relates to children’s development and examine how children develop socially throughout early childhood. Using the lens of the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, creating supportive environments, building relationships, facilitating transitions, and identifying children’s feelings will be examined during this course. This course requires an observation in an early childhood environment in order to complete assignments. (Su)
