Second Chance Program
Current and returning students choosing to transfer to a different program may be eligible for the Second Chance Program. This program is not considered academic amnesty, rather a way for students to transfer to a new program that is a better fit for their skills and interests. Not all program transfers are approved under the Second Chance Program as the student must apply for and be approved for this program.
Under this program, only courses applicable to the new program, and all attempts, will be used to calculate the cumulative grade point average (CGPA), pace of completion, and maximum timeframe used to calculate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). All courses and grades not applicable to the new program will remain on the transcript, but will not be used to calculate SAP for the new program.
Depending on the student’s performance in the transfer courses, SAP may still impact the student’s ability to receive federal financial aid even after being accepted into the Second Chance Program. If this is the case, the student will receive the same sanctions and be required to go through the same SAP processes as all other students.
A student may only be approved to participate in the Second Chance Program twice. The program is not applicable to any prior completed degree or certificate program the student completed at the College.
